MO Trip Part I (Location+Scenery)

And...I am BACK!!!
I had a relaxing and exciting visit with one of my best friends.
She showed me around her church, school, home, and town.
I am so glad I was able to spend some time with her!

Maranatha Baptist Church
St. Robert, MO

EJ teaches K-5 in a Christian school; she is so
creative and has such a way with her kiddies...

I was able to finally meet her special young man...
James

EJ lives with another teacher down a country
rode on a ranch...

They live in the spacious upstairs of this house.
More than enough room for two...

Hot tub located on back enclosed porch

Guest room...my living quarters for the week

Didn't think I would see use of this, but
one night we came home to discover our heat
had broken. The landlord came over and
stoked the wood burning stove...
We finally let the fire go out when the thermostat
reached +90degrees!

My chauffeur!

The winding road to her house
was beautiful!

Our favorite rock...:)

Leave of Absence

This is just to inform my blogging friends that I will not
be blogging for an entire week! I have gotten the opportunity
to visit one of my dearest friends who is a teacher in Missouri.
She is currently on spring break...and I get to spend it with her!
I know we will have a great time; and try to stay out of trouble.;)
Will post when I return!

What Makes a Home

A house is simply defined as a residence for human beings, but my home is so much more than that. This is a picture of the many children's stories that I grew up listening to every night. As long as I can remember my dad has had family devotions with us in the evening. When we were younger these were the Bible story books my dad would read from. They don't get much use any more, but they still sit on our bookshelf - a glimpse into my childhood past and a reminder that God is a vital part of our home.

This is just a glimpse into one of the many things that makes the house I live in my home.

Giving over the fake pearls...

There was a young lady who loved someone very much. Almost too much. Her mother would ask her on occasion if she would be willing to give that someone over to God if He would ask her to. The young girl did not like to think about things like that. Why would God make her give up something so wonderful?
A couple years passed and the woman very reluctantly gave this someone to God. She didn't understand why God would be putting her through this. Why would He not want her to have the best?

Her mother sat her down and told her this story...

There was a little girl who had a set of fake pearls. This little girl loved her necklace more than anything she possessed.
One night when her father was tucking her into bed he kissed her on the forehead then asked,
Do you love me?

Of course I do, Daddy. You know that, the little girl squeezed his neck.

Do you love me enough to give me your pearl necklace? he inquired.

She didn't understand. Why would her daddy want her to give up her necklace? Didn't he know how much she loved those pearls?

Several nights passed and each night her father would ask her the same question.
Do you love me more than that pearl necklace...
Would you give it up for me?

One night when the Father entered the room the little girl was sitting up in bed waiting for him. She looked distraught, yet very determined. Her Father sat on the bed next to her.

She looked up at him with tears streaming down her face, Daddy, I do love you... I love you more than my pearls...

She opened her little hand and in it lay her prized possession.

Her Father took those beads ever so lovingly, then reached into his pocket and pulled out a velvet box. The little girl opened the box and pulled out a beautiful strand of real pearls. The little girl smiled through her tears and hugged her daddy. These pearls were far more beautiful and precious than her fake beads, and her daddy had just been waiting for her to give up her fake ones.

My mom taught me a valuable lesson; one I will never forget. Sometimes what we think is so wonderful is really not. Sometimes we hold on to those fake pearls, unaware that God has something even more wonderful in store for us. I gave up my fake pearls a long time ago, but I know that my heavenly Father never takes any earthly thing away, unless He means to give us something far better instead.

God having provided some better thing for us... (Hebrews 11:40)

A Long Awaited Purchase...

For as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed taking pictures - whether it be of family, friends, or scenery. For over a year I have been researching my next camera purchase and I knew that I wanted a Canon DSLR.
Just last week I was finally able to purchase one. I chose the Canon XSi, and found a great deal online. I had looked in several stores and was patiently waiting for it to go on sale. I was leery of buying so big a purchase off the computer.
My dad and I called Canon and asked some questions about that particular model and they referred us to the website where I ended up buying my camera. I HIGHLY recommend this website as well as this camera; you can visit the website here. I ended up purchasing the camera (might I add for $80 cheaper than Best Buy) last Wednesday and received it Friday! I have alot to learn about many of this camera's features but for now I am totally and completely in love with it!
